Diagnosing Urethral Stricture: The identification of urethral stricture involves the use of imaging techniques such as RGU and MCU (retrograde and antegrade urethrogram). These methods help precisely determine the length, severity, and location of the stricture.
Treating Urethral Stricture: Surgical intervention is the primary method for addressing urethral strictures, as medications are not effective in this case. The choice of treatment depends on the length and severity of the stricture.
For Short Strictures: Dilation or cutting of short strictures (urethrotomy) can be performed using a laser or knife under the guidance of a specially designed video cystoscope.
For Long/Recurrent Strictures: Surgical removal of the stricture is necessary in these cases, followed by the reconstruction of the area using grafts (buccal/lingual mucosal urethroplasty) or flaps.
Hypospadias is a congenital urethral disorder characterized by the urinary opening being situated on the underside of the penis rather than at the tip. It ranks as the second most common birth abnormality affecting the male reproductive system, occurring in approximately one out of every 250 male births.
Signs and Symptoms of Hypospadias include:
1.Hooded appearance of the penile organ
2.Unusual spraying during urination
3.Urethral opening at the bottom of the penis
4.Downward curve of the penis (chordee)
Treatment for Hypospadias typically involves surgery to restore the normal appearance of the penis. A successful operation can enable regular urination and reproductive function. The specific surgical procedure depends on the location of the urethral opening and the position of the urethral plate.
